Christa-Maria Lerm Hayes is a lecturer in Theoretical and Historical Studies in Visual Art at the University of Ulster in Belfast. She studied at Heidelberg, London, Bonn and Cologne before researching Joyce-inspired art as a James Joyce Foundation Scholar in Zurich and moving to Ireland. She is author ofJames Joyce as a Source of Inspiration for Joseph Beuys(2001), and curator (with Patrick T. Murphy, director of the Royal Hibernian Academy) of the exhibition‘Joyce in Art: Visual Art Inspired by James Joyce’, part of the ReJoyce Dublin 2004 Festival.
