Tidings

Tidings is an anthology of original Irish Christmas writing – short stories and essays by some of Ireland’s best writers, who play on the broad theme of ‘Christmas parties’. Various and vital, these writers have one thing in common – they have been published by The Lilliput Press across our first four decades. In addition, three new voices appear for the first time.

Lilliput Christmas parties are a time when the readers and the writers of books, the printers, designers and producers of books, all come together as music plays in the background. Rather than selecting samples of previously published work, and to give this book a commemorative tone, we commissioned new writing, because what is Christmas without a new beginning? 

These stories of family, remembrance, parties, passion, loss and humour herald a beautiful addition to the rich trove of Irish writing around the festive period. Celebrating forty years in publishing, we look back on what has gone before while anticipating what is to come.
